Our Mission & Vision
The Constitution of India framed by the Drafting Committee under the Chairmanship of our great leader Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar was passed in the house of the parliament and enacted for the world largest democratic, secular, socialist and republic union of India to enable its citizens to enjoy the various fundamental rights and privileges. The Article 342 of the Indian Constitution specifies the state-wise list of the Scheduled Tribe communities in India and was notified by the Presidential directives being the Constitution (Scheduled Tribe) Order 1950 dated 06.09.1950 to protect and safe guard the interest and opportunities of the tribal people for getting admission to the educational institutions, appointments in Government services and to hold the public administrative office as an elected representative through the posts / vacancies reserved for the Scheduled Tribe category of people.
The WEST BENGAL SCHEDULED TRIBE WELFARE ASSOCIATION (WBSTWA) is a voluntary, membership based, non-political, non religious and non profitable social welfare organization for all the 40 (forty) numbers of tribal community people enlisted in the Scheduled Tribe list of communities in the state of West Bengal. It is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961 having its registered office at Durgapur, West Bengal.
The prime objective for formation of this Association is to organise awareness campaign among the tribal people and to establish an institution for education, health care, socio-economic growth and cultural advancement of the Adivasi communities through workshops, seminars, conventions and mass movements with the intension:-
To achieve the legitimate rights of the indigenous and tribal people of India that is under threat due to the increasing in numbers of suspicious / fake ST casteism, where most of the suspicious / fake STs are adopting undue means and pseudo-tribalism methods to procure ST Caste status only to derive the benefits meant for the Scheduled Tribe community people and consequently depriving the genuine STs.
• To counter all types of atrocities, harassments, misbehaviours, forgery, cheating, deprivation, displacements and social discriminations happening against the Scheduled Tribe community people in normal life.
The activities that this Association aims to foster:
• To conduct various welfare programme among Adivasi people on literature, health care and economic growth.
• To acquire, establish, start and run, maintain and manage educational institutes, libraries, for the benefit of the Scheduled Tribe students.
• To arrange for awareness program, debate, discussion, seminar and excursion for the diffusion of knowledge.
• To publish or cause to be published useful literatures, magazines etc. without profit motive.
• To study, inculcate and demonstrate the Adivasi art of music and dancing.
• To promote and encourage advancement of literary, cultural and scientific education.
• To help the needy students of all communities of Scheduled Tribe for the pursuance of studies.
• To help the aged, sick, helpless and indigent Adivasi persons.
• To work for the happiness of the under privileged, needy people for their primary needs such as food, clothing, education and shelter etc.
• To establish and maintain the elementary and adult education centre to remove the illiteracy among the Adivasi people.
• To open charitable dispensaries, first aid centres, blood donation camps from time to time and to generate a sense of awareness amongst people suffering from Thalassemia, Cancerous disease and HIV AIDS diseases etc.
• To arrange and organise education on computer knowledge both in theoretical and practical classes among the needy students of the society without profit.
• To render relief to the sufferings in the time of famine, flood, drought, earthquake and other natural calamities.
• To educate the people about environmental pollution and to arrange plantation of trees in the locality to eliminate carbon emission.
• To arrange and organise old age home for the helpless and the needy Adivasi people of the society without profit motive.
• To arrange medical treatment for Deaf & Dumb and Handicapped persons by rendering qualified doctors, medicines and other allied materials at free of cost.
• To help to organise self-help group based programme for augmentation of the livelihood opportunities of the people at the grass root level as being beneficial to the public or to a section of public.
• To encourage Adivasi people to procure and preserve the cultural heritage and customary laws and traditions prevailing amongst each tribal group.
With these aims and objectives in mind, the WBSTWA along with the support of its sincere, dedicated and motivated members of the tribal community and with the help of all our generous well-wishers across various sects of people, we will be able to eradicate the unfair means of social discriminations and injustice happening against our people, and will promote to enhance the developments of the tribal people of this wonderful nation.
We welcome all the Adivasi people to join us in fraternity with the WBSTWA and strengthen our mass movement to make this mission successful, and enlighten the way of our living in the ethical values of an egalitarian society that the indigenous and tribal people evolved on the earth.
